Better Learning Through Structured Teaching: A Framework for the Gradual Release of Responsibility, 2021

The authors focus on the gradual release of responsibility instructional framework as a means to help students to be more successful and self-directed learners.  To accomplish this goal, lessons are structured to incorporate four interrelated phases:

·       Focused Instruction—“I do it”

·       Guided Instruction—“We do it together”

·       Collaborative Learning—“You do it together”

·       Independent Learning—“You do it alone”
